The 118th Muker Show

The 118th Grand #Annual #Show was held in #Muker on Wednesday 3 September 2025, it is a small and very traditional #agricultural show in idyllic Upper #Swaledale and in their own words ‘Its run by volunteers, nothing fancy, just good old community spirit’. And that is exactly what we got, it was a #wonderful way to spend the best part of a day and provided limitless photographic #opportunities.

As well as a host of commercial and catering outlets the show included an Invitation #Sheep #Dog #Trial and Working Dog #Judging; Swaledale Sheep competitions; Dry #Stone #Walling Demonstration; Tractor and Implement Judging; Children’s #Fancy #Dress Parades and #Sports Competitions, as well as Competitions for local #Handicrafts, Produce, Walking Stick, Horticulture, Photographic and Art and on top of that there were 4 gruelling #fell #races for U12s, U14s, U17s and a hotly contested senior race.

The famous Muker #Band performed throughout the day but their ‘pièce de résistance’ came at 5pm when they decanted to the forecourt of the local village pub and led an hour of community singing - What a way to close a wonderful day.
