Tom Lee

Master Photographer
FRPS, FMIPP, FSWPP, CrSWPP

Tom is a former professional photographer, working in the Social and Commercial sectors of the industry for nearly 40 years. Now retired, his work is predominantly monochromatic and features fine art works based in both digital and analogue fields. Current projects are based around street photography which has resulted in a recent book publication. Other works feature images on glass plates called Orotones, which harken back to the earliest days of photography in 1850, when photographers were part chemist mixing their own photographic emulsions.

“From the outset of my career, I wanted to go beyond the simple mechanics of photography; in other words, not just the principles of image taking and printing. Albert Einstein once said - ”Any fool can know, the point is to understand”.“This is the essence of my fine art creations and believe there is a spiritual connection that happens on both sides of the lens, starting well before the shutter is pressed. It's this connection that I try and attain in all aspects of my work.”
