Steve Lewis
(1958 - 2024 in memoriam)
It is with sadness that we acknowledge the loss of one of our founding members.
A Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and an Associate of the Welsh Photographic Federation, Steve had been photographing the landscape for over 40 years. Closely associated with the Snowdonia National Park in particular, his knowledge and understanding of the area allowed him to produce images unrivalled in their portrayal of the ephemeral light and wild atmosphere of that special part of the world. His work was an intimate and lovingly crafted celebration of wild landscapes.
Steve had recently returned to monochrome photography, specifically infrared, and was working on a number of long term projects and portfolios.
Steve contributed to various image and video libraries, including Visit Britain, Photolibrary of Wales, the National Trust and Shutterstock. He also hosted photographic workshops in Snowdonia, the U.K. and around the world. His first book, 'Private Views of Snowdonia' was published in 2005, and his latest book, ’Fleeting Treasures” was published in 2018.
We celebrate his art in this gallery with affection.
