On 22nd June a protest march - #Restore #Nature #Now, was held in #London in order to highlight to the sitting government (whoever that might be!) on the importance of #wildlife in the UK.
According to the organisers and #Chris #Packham, some 60,000 people took part and it will probably not be the last. A previous march (The #Peoples #Walk for #Wildlife) was held in 2018 which I also took part in. It’s a small contribution, but at least I feel that I’m doing something.
A few statistics to make you think:
Since Frankie Goes to Hollywood released ‘Relax’, we have lost 600 million #birds across Europe, 65% of #Cuckoos and 90% of our #Nightingales. 80% of our #butterflies have gone and 19% of our other #wildlife has been destroyed. A staggering 1 in 6 species are in danger of #extinction worldwide!
Our #landscape and wildlife is something dear to my heart and some of my most #rewarding #photography involves being in the #countryside. Without the joys of nature in my life and the ability to photograph it would leave me quite sad, so taking part in a march in London is the least that I could do to show my #support.
Of course it goes without saying I would take part in another one!
